Deck Cleaning Gold Coast

Periodical deck cleaning between re-coats extends the life of your coating and keeps it looking great for longer

Restore • Protect • Maintain • Clean

We strongly recommend you wash your deck periodically between recoatings.

Beachlife Floors offer a deck cleaning service where you an either book us to clean your deck at regular intervals e.g. every 3 months or you can simply call us when your deck needs a clean.

We always aim to use the cleaning products recommended by the manufacturer for each specific deck coating.

Using the wrong deck cleaning product on an unsuitable surface can have a detrimental effect on the life of the deck’s coating.

If you are currently cleaning your deck yourself feel free to call us for any questions you may have.

Warning – Extreme care should be taken when pressure cleaning timber decks as it is easy to damage the coating and the timber with too much pressure and an inexperienced operator.

At Beachlife Floors when it comes to sanding and restoring Gold Coast timber decks we work to the mantra:

Restore • Protect • Maintain • Clean

Restore: When you have sanded the deck back to bare timber and made it like new again.

You will need to remember to find time to regularly clean your beautiful timber deck which is an absolute feature of your outdoor living space.

This spotted gum jetty goes under water about four times a year and it was a big job to sand it flat then coat it with CUTEK wood preservative.

The timber deck jetty before and after comparison was belt sanded to remove the previous coatings then recoated with CUTEK® wood preservative. The jetty had been flooded many times and was under water 4 times in the previous 18 months before we restored it.

Why should I clean my timber deck?

Cleaning will improve the aesthetics of your outdoor living area and feel more comfortable under foot.

Cleaning will prolong the life of the deck’s finish.

Remember that is the same deck finish that you probably paid a worker to coat your deck with and unless you want to see a lot more of that person then get out your hose, bucket and broom and get cracking.

After Completion Timber Deck

Deck restoration complete, the owner loved the Aqualis H2Oil finish and readily agreed to an ongoing yearly deck maintenance program.

The removal of detritus from your timber deck at regular intervals reduces coating wear, thus extending the deck’s lifespan.

Detritus can be imported onto your deck in so many ways such as from the bottom of your shoes and BBQ’s. Mostly what accumulates on your deck is from airborne particles such as soil, dust, pollen, road works, neighbourhood tree felling and nearby bush fire ash.

Next is the salt threat from pool salt and the airborne salt if you live near the beach, like most of us do on the Gold Coast.

Sap from trees near the deck may be sticky and difficult to remove..

All dirt and other pollutants on the deck have the same effect as sandpaper, slowly wearing through your deck’s protective coating. When you consider the average coating is only 0.2-0.3 mm thick the less abrasive wear the better.

The best liquid to wash and clean your deck with is whatever the manufacturer of the coating recommends.

Regular deck cleaning extends the life of the coating between re-coats.

Deck cleaning protects your investment by delaying the inevitable.

As your deck coating wears through, moisture is invited into the timber decking where it expands and contacts through heating and cooling.

Water ingress moisture is the real enemy of your timber deck, dirt just wears the coating out.
